From Jewelry Store to Hearing Care

In 1885, the Stone family opened a shop on High Street in Pottstown. It was built on a simple idea — that neighbors deserve honest, careful, personal service.

By 1938, as hearing aid technology began changing lives, Stone’s added hearing instruments to their practice. It was a natural fit. The same attention and personal care that defined the jewelry store carried right into helping people hear again.

That was nearly ninety years ago. Stone’s is still here, still family-owned, and still on High Street. That kind of longevity isn’t accidental — it’s built on relationships, trust, and genuine care for every person who walks through the door.

141 Years

and still family owned

“Every hearing loss is unique — it’s like a fingerprint. That’s why we don’t just sell you an instrument. It’s the counseling, the service, and the follow-up that really counts. We’ve been doing that for the same Pottstown families for years, and we’ll keep doing it.”

Mark Shanta, BC-HIS
Your Hearing Specialist

Meet Mark Shanta

Mark graduated from Temple University in 1979 and came straight to Pottstown to join Stone’s Hearing Aid Service. It’s the only job he’s ever had — and if you ask him, it’s the only one he’d ever want.

As a Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist (BC-HIS) and Pennsylvania state licensed registered fitter, Mark has spent over four decades helping people hear better. He’s watched hearing aid technology go from “horse and wagon to outer space” — and he brings that full depth of experience to every patient he sees.

Mark personally services 12 nursing homes throughout the region and makes free house calls within 20 miles of Pottstown. Whether you come to the office or he comes to you, the care is exactly the same — patient, thorough, and personal.

If something doesn’t seem right, Mark will tell you. When a patient needs medical attention before hearing aids, he refers them to the right professional first. His decades of experience mean he often recognizes what people need before they realize it themselves.

How We Work

What Makes Stone’s Different

No Hidden Costs. No Surprises.

Our pricing is fully bundled. That means office visits, adjustments, follow-up care, and house calls are all included for the duration of your warranty — no unexpected bills, no nickel-and-diming. You’ll know exactly what you’re getting from day one.

We Come to You

Can’t make it in? We’ll come to you. Mark makes free house calls within 20 miles of Pottstown — and everything we do in the office, we can do in your home. Hearing tests, fittings, impressions. We also service nursing homes throughout the region. Same care, wherever you are.
